Open Water Course
The Padi Open Water Course consists of pool dives, which are done in our tailored heated pool. This is the first part of experiencing Scuba Diving underwater. The most important skills are learnt in the pool highlighting the safety of diving!

The knowledge development section develops the understanding of scuba by general class discussion and final evaluation. All these skills are then applied at one of three local dive sites where you would get the opportunity to do at least 4 Open water dives!

The Course includes:
  • All your air fills
  • Use of facilities
  • Use of our scuba equipment, hard gear (BCD, Regulators, Cylinders)
  • Manuals
  • Free Medical Diving insurance while on course.
  • It also includes all your tuition and the international registration with Padi International!

    The Course excludes:
  • Snorkeling equipment
  • Soft gear (Fins, mask, wetsuit)

Should you do your training dives inland there will be a coastal trip shortly afterwards, let’s face it fish and coral is the reason for diving. The cost of the coastal trip will be advised as this is seasonal.

Once you have completed the Open Water Course you will automatically become a member of the Scuba Club. We have a Social Evening once a month, where divers get a chance to meet up again and talk diving and you will be most welcome. There will be great prizes up for grabs at these evenings. In addition you will receive a weekly newsletter informing you of up coming events and dive trips and of any specials that we may have at the Dive Centre. All in all we will be able to keep in constant contact with you and there will be a sense of belonging.

WHEN THINKING OF LEARNING TO DIVE ONE ALWAYS HAS A NUMBER OF QUESTIONS:
    1. Who is my Instructor?

    2. Mike and Nadine Grimsted have been teaching Diving now for twenty years. Started in Port Elizabeth and thereafter spent a couple of years in the Seychelles we have worked in Mozambique and have been teaching in Johannesburg for the last few years. We have taught well in excess of over a thousand divers at all levels of diving education.

    3. Where should I do My Course?

    4. You want to do your course through a reputable facility that has everything to meet your needs, preferably a facility that has every thing under one roof and a facility that you would feel comfortable visiting on a regular basis. A Home from home.

    5. Which registering body should I obtain my certification through? i.e. is my certification Internationally recognised?

    6. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors “P.A.D.I”. Currently trains 75% of the worlds divers, all courses are conducted according to a very high standard set down by PADI. All instructors are monitored very closely as to maintain the high standard of education, as set out by Padi.

    7. Is it safe?

    8. All PADI courses are taught under stringent safety rules and no chances are taken by the instructor, you the candidate are of paramount importance. Diving is not only one of the easiest sports to master but also one of the safest. The entry age for recreational diving is ten years old and I think this sums it up.

    9. What happens when I have completed my Course?

    10. You have just opened up a whole new sphere to life. The diving is unlimited. You will meet new friends explore new avenues and it is open to the whole family – nobody loses out. Most of all you will be having fun and getting away from the everyday stresses of life. You will also be more than welcome to our social gatherings, which take place once a Month. Everyone is welcome on all diving trips, and these are scheduled on a regular basis.

    11. It sounds expensive and how do I know it’s for me?

    12. This is where we your instructors comes in to play we will take you for a try out dive in the pool free of charge with no obligation. You will experience the feeling of breathing underwater and being totally weightless, probably the closest you will ever become to feeling like an astronaut. This will also give you the opportunity of visiting the Dive Centre and meeting our staff. We will also be able to advise you on the best equipment for your needs at the right price.
Please give us a call if you would like to arrange a free pool dive, and open yourself up to a whole new world.
